Charleston Park sits along the shores of Lake Allatoona in Bartow County, Georgia. The park is named after the nearby historic town of Charleston, which was one of the original settlements in the region before the construction of Allatoona Dam flooded much of the valley in the 1950s.
Name Origin: Named after the historic town of Old Charleston, a Cherokee trading post settlement that was partially submerged when Lake Allatoona was created by the Army Corps of Engineers.
